Lending a hand through social media

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State University’s annual Mass Communication Week will host “Social Media for Social Good” on Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 9:30 to 10:50 in Old Main 320.
During this session, speakers will discuss creative ways of using social media to benefit certain sectors of the community.
The session will include Kerri Qunell of Capital Area Food Bank, Alan Graham of Mobile Loaves & Fishes, Jordan Viator of Convio and David Neff of the American Cancer Society.
Qunell is the vice president of communications at Capital Area Food Bank as well as a Texas State journalism graduate. Graham is the president and CEO of Mobile Loaves & Fishes in Austin. Jordan Viator is the interactive communications manager at Austin-based Convio. David Neff is the director of web, film and interactive strategy at the American Cancer Society.
The guest speakers at this session will inform listeners of ways in which social media are helping them lend a hand to the less fortunate.
