Mass Comm Week is pleased to present a screening of the film Merchants of Doubt. This documentary takes audiences on a satirically comedic, yet illuminating ride into the heart of conjuring American spin. Filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the curtain on a secretive group of highly charismatic, silver-tongued pundits-for-hire who present themselves in the media as scientific authorities — yet have the contrary aim of spreading maximum confusion about well-studied public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. in Old Main 320, and the film will begin at 7 p.m. This screening is moderated by Associate Professor of Practice Kym Fox and is sponsored by the Texas State chapters of SPJ and PRSSA.
