Forming the force of media

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University-San Marcos will be hosting the session “Making it in the World of Media” during Mass Communication Week on October 19 from 9:30-10:50 in Old Main room 320.

The session will be focusing on the different sectors of media, such as print journalism, broadcasting, public relations and social media, and how they separate and combine to form a force that impacts the world.

Guest speakers at the session will include Nora Lopez, Dale Blasingame and Patrick George of the Austin American-Statesman.

Nora Lopez is a state editor at the San Antonio-Express News, overseeing reporters and editors who are responsible for the paper’s statewide coverage, including bureaus in Austin, the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo and Mexico City.

Dale Blasingame is a Texas State alumnus, San Antonio News 4 producer and Emmy Award winner. He’s received the award for his work with an investigation involving utility workers sleeping on the job.
