Texas State University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication students have the opportunity to apply to a special course that will plan the 2020 Mass Comm Week event. The application can be found online and is due March 13.

The application requires students to upload a resume and answer a few basic questions. No transcripts or letters of recommendation are required.

Students should have full-major status and must have taken MC1313 (Media Writing). The 3-hour course will count as an elective for students and will focus on recruiting sponsors and speakers, creating promotional events and campaigns, and managing social media for the event. Students will also be on-hand for the execution of the event as hosts.

At the end of the course, students should have a thorough understanding of the event planning process and will have a handful of portfolio pieces to aid in future internship and job searches.

Applications will be reviewed over Spring Break. Selected participants will be notified in late March.
